BHOPAL, 2 February 2005 — Since the Supreme Court of Portugal has cleared the extradition of Indian mafia don Abu Salem, there was hope that he and actress Monica Bedi, whose extradition was cleared earlier, would be brought to Bhopal also to be tried in a court here in the future.
Mafia don Abu Salem and his girlfriend Monica Bedi are wanted in connection with the fake passport scandal here. They had escaped from India with the help of fake passports issued in Bhopal and used them to enter Portugal, where they were arrested.
Bedi had traveled on the passport B-5554776 that was issued in the name of Fauzia.
