JEDDAH, 6 February 2005 — The GCC Institute will be the “silver sponsor” of Jeddah Economic Forum (JEF) taking place on Feb. 19.

The professional GCC Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Business and Management is located at the Knowledge Village in Dubai, which is based at the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone. It is keen on sponsoring such a prominent event as JEF as a step toward penetrating the Saudi market and building bridges of communication between executives and employees from different Arab and GCC countries.

Ronda Martin, marketing executive of the GCC Institute, said, “the sponsoring of JEF will enable us to penetrate the Saudi market, attract Saudi businessmen and women, and also promote the company in Saudi Arabia. We are the first training institute to participate in such a forum.”

Martin commented, “The organizers of the forum were very supportive to our needs and encouraging. This sponsorship is a good opportunity for the GCC business holders and executives to break into the Saudi market.”

She expects the forum to be a platform for launching the institute in the Kingdom. “People of Saudi Arabia will know who we are and what we are about.”

The institute is seeking Saudi market acceptance of its “training programs and to send us employees to be trained in management and development.”

The institute runs various courses which are intensive four-day programs consisting mainly workshops. The courses also provide a social environment for colleagues who work in the same fields to exchange ideas and experiences.

The trainers are accredited consultants with international exposure and have been working in the Middle East for a long time, which enabled them to understand and closely study Middle Eastern working environment. They are all either deans or assistant deans at universities and hold PhDs.

The GCC Institute offers courses in different management skills such as leadership, human resources strategy, performance culture as well as project and process management to executives, managers and others.

Stressing the importance of training, Martin said that “$3.9 billion is put aside annually as budget for training programs. This shows how essential training is to the upward mobility of an organization.”

The institute deals with different subjects such as financial management, Islamic banking, human resources, personnel management, sales, banking, performance organization, and many others. The first course is to start in March.
