BAHA, 7 February 2005 — A 70-year-old citizen performed a hemorrhoids operation on himself without consulting a doctor because he felt embarrassed to ask a surgeon to do such a surgery. The stubborn old man took matters into his own hands and carried out the operation using sharp razors, a mirror and a piece of cloth. It took him two hours to finish the job and seven days to recover. His family was astonished by his courage to perform the operation on himself and his speedy recovery although they had tried to convince the conservative man to have the surgery done in a hospital.
