HP is extending its No. 1 position and market leadership across the server market, according to new figures from IDC for the first quarter of 2005 for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) which revealed strong growth the region, including 121 percent growth in the Saudi Arabian server business. Adding to its leading position in the Enterprise sector, HP also announced a record quarter for its storage business.

Speaking about the market share results for servers, Martyn Molnar, Enterprise Storage & Servers Business Manager, HP Middle East, said: “In the Middle East, our market share for the UAE and KSA is over 70 percent for our HP ProLiant Server units. This dominant market share extends throughout the rest of the Middle East and Egypt.”

He continued, “I believe much of our success lies in the fact that we are able to deliver strong products and a wide-ranging services portfolio. We have driven toward more focused engagement in Key Accounts and created a more balanced portfolio, with the result that our customer base has never been stronger in the Enterprise sector. We firmly believe that the future will bring even greater growth numbers throughout the region, and our commitment to our customers will remain as powerful as it is today.”

In other Enterprise activities in the Kingdom, HP is in the process of implementing a Multichannel Call Center and Customer Interaction for Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), that will integrate and strengthen various facets of its customer-facing operations.

The six-month-long project commenced in February this year and is expected to be fully active by August 2005. HP’s Multichannel Interaction Center solution is based on Cisco technology. HP as a Cisco Advance Technology Partner will integrate e-mail, chat and web-collaboration as well as incorporate IP Telephony, IVR, CTI, CRM and fax integration. HP will design, implement, integrate, and manage the project and will also offer support services thereafter. HP is collaborating closely with the its local partner, Jeraisy in the implementation of this solution.
