Acer Computer (ME) has unveiled its first-ever LCD flat panel televisions for the Middle East market. Leveraging off its strong brand image in mobile and desktop PCs and continuing its strategy of diversifying its product range to incorporate the digital convergence concept, Acer’s LCD televisions come integrated with the latest cutting-edge technologies.
“Middle East consumers have quickly taken to LCD technology, as we have witnessed in the LCD monitor market where Acer has a healthy market share,” explained Emanuele Accolla, Acer’s VP, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “With a projected market opportunity across the EMEA region currently standing at six million units, a figure that is set to rise to 20 million by 2008, we feel that the time is right to bring these products to market and are confident of replicating our notebook success.”
Acer’s high-quality LCD TVs are crammed with the latest features to ensure a cinema experience for the home. The 26-inch model, the AL2671W, and its larger 32-inch counterpart, the AT3201W, are designed with cinematic aspect ratios for full-screen viewing of movies. The image quality of the models has been enhanced by Acer’s research and development to provide crisper, sharper images with Optimal Gamma Curve technology and other performance enhancing features.
“These Acer LCD televisions have one of the widest viewing angles available in the market today, at 170 degrees. While others may claim that their displays produce life-like images, Acer’s models deliver with amazing color and scene depth,” said David Drummond, Acer’s LCD TV Business Unit Head. “Acer has invested considerable time and effort in producing top of the range LCD televisions that not only provide a fantastic viewing experience, but are also designed to act as a core component of the digital home.”
As a company whose portfolio of products reflect the growing trend toward convergence, Acer’s high-performance LCD televisions are designed specifically to be compatible with the latest technologies, including a new Acer product called the Media Gateway. Expected to be available in the Middle East this month, the MG3001 Media Gateway is an interface designed to act as a critical building block for the digital home, linking all consumer electronic equipment.
“The Media Gateway allows you to access all your consumer electronics devices, seamlessly, through one, multidirectional gateway,” said Drummond. “For example, it allows you to view the Internet on your LCD television while also allowing PCs to connect to satellite and other traditional formats like DVD and CD. It also acts as a recording and storage device, so that you can record live satellite TV, or even radio, directly onto the Media Gateway.”
