RIYADH, 20 November 2005 — The Kingdom has expressed interest in acquiring search dogs from Britain as part of its security program. David Lloyd, leader of a visiting 47-member British trade delegation told Arab News that Saudi Aramco and Saudi Arabian Airlines have shown interest in sniffer dogs from the United Kingdom.
He said the Dog Detectives Limited (DDL) was the international leader in providing specialist search dogs. DDL supplies trained dogs as well as courses for dogs and handlers related to explosives, drug and currency detection, urban disasters, search-and-rescue operations and cadaver location.
Lloyd pointed out that growing Saudi economy and ongoing economic reforms in the Kingdom prompted the United Kingdom to send the trade delegation to Saudi Arabia. “Saudi Arabia is a good and safe place to do business. It is cash-rich and offers a wealth of across the board business opportunities.”
Lloyd, who is also information director of the Middle East Association, said the delegation was interested in discovering opportunities for infrastructure development in the Kingdom. “We are also eager to expand the existing educational programs between the two countries,” he said. “We have developed English-language training programs for adults at the London School of English. The programs include business, professional and general English.
