DAMMAM, 12 December 2006 — The sixth seminar on human resources development will focus on the latest experiments and applications applied by various local and international institutions in the development of manpower resources.
The Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EPCCI) and the Saudi Electric Company are jointly organizing the event to be held under the patronage of Governor of the Eastern Province Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd on Jan. 16, Adan Al-Naeem, deputy secretary general of the EPCCI said.
Several Saudi and foreign agencies representing both the government and private sector will participate in the seminar, which aims at widening the perception of the specialists, directors, and businessmen with regards to the vital role played by the human resources in achieving progress and success. It also aims to focus on the modern concept and practice of the change management including the motivating factors in achieving change besides warning about the risks involved in ignoring the impetus for change.
The discipline of change management deals primarily with the human aspect of change. The change management envisages maximization of the collective benefits for all people involved in the change and minimizes the risk of failure of implementing the change.
Al-Naeem said the seminar involved a number of topics most prominent of them being the total vision of the change management concept, which included its definition and its various features besides the resistance accompanying the change and the ways to overcome it. It will also discuss the strategies of interacting with the change and examine the instruments of the change management. It will lay down the institutional basics for the right and creative interaction with the change. It will also facilitate the ways for the transfer of expertise in the field of change management. The seminar will also monitor the latest developments in the human resources concept and role played by the human factor in the success of any venture.
The seminar will also launch a new website www.hrdconference.com.sa.
The participants in the event will include experts from the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority, Saudi Aramco and Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC). A number of domestic and international experts such as Khaled Al-Kaf, CEO of Mobily, Nabil Al-Jami, director general for the training and development of skills in Aramco, Mansour Al-Kharboush, vice president of the joint services in SABIC, Tom Peters, internationally-known management expert, Ali Fakhrou, a former minister from Bahrain, Fawaz Al-Alamy, chief technical World Trade Organization negotiator and Ahmad Hosni, human resources development consultant at General Motors will read papers in the seminar.
