RIYADH, 13 February 2007 — For a wider Kingdom coverage, Mobily is launching today its Mobile Push-to-Talk service (PTT) under the brand name “Mobily Hawwel”.

PTT service provides users with a distinctly different experience to traditional voice, delivering a “walkie-talkie” style service, i.e. only one person can talk at a time.

However, unlike the normal walkie-talkies which only operate in limited distance, Mobily Hawwel allows conversations regardless of the distance as they are encrypted over GPRS data or 3G network, which rules out cross-talk or listening-in.

This service is available for the first time in all regions and highways in the Kingdom, Mobily said.

The service features a one-to-one conversation or up to 10 people at the same time classified as a group call, which allows caller’s identification online through small icons appearing with certain colors.

All Mobily Hawwel contacts and groups are securely stored on the network, keeping them intact even though the subscribers would change mobile phones.

PTT service is a totally secure voice communication. Ahmed Alhosani, DCMO of Mobily, said Mobily Hawwel is a “direct communication on the go.”

He explained that “by pressing a single button, it allows your mobile to transmit your speech to up to 10 mobile phones simultaneously.” He further said that “all what you need is a Push-to-Talk-capable mobile phone and a Mobily Hawwel subscription.”

He added that Push-to-Talk mobile has special icons to show the present status of everyone in the group, “which means you won’t interrupt colleagues when they don’t want to be disturbed.”

Moreover, up to 10 groups of contacts can be created and stored in the push-to-talk handset.

Subscribers can store up to 250 contacts on Mobily Hawwel menu.

Mobily Hawwel service can be activated by either sending the word “Hawwel” to 1100, or calling 1100 and request the service, or dialing *1100 or visiting Mobily website (www.mobily.com.sa).

Postpaid & prepaid subscribers can avail of Mobily Hawwel service for SR50 monthly fee, with unlimited Hawwel calls or “unlimited pushes.”
