DAMMAM, 15 February 2007 — Eastern Province Governor Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd has ordered an urgent meeting of top officials in the region’s private and public sectors in order to discuss obstacle-free implementation of utility projects in the region.
The governor directed the participants to approach the issues in a coordinated manner and find final solutions to all problems.
He asked the officials “to remember that it is the responsibility of all concerned officials to find solutions so that people enjoy the utilities for which the government has allocated huge funds.”
Consequently, the officials of the governorate, municipality, ministries of transport and water, Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Saudi Aramco, Saudi Electricity Company, Saudi Telecommunications Co. and Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) will shortly hold a meeting and examine how best to eliminate problems that prevent the completion of projects such as the circular road linking Dhahran, Abqaiq and Ahsa, the bridge over the intersection of King Fahd Road and Prince Naif Street in Dammam, Prince Salman Overpass in Alkhobar, and the tunnel below the King Fahd Road-Abubakr Siddiq Street intersection in Dammam.
Offering the full cooperation of his office, Dammam Mayor Dhaifallah Al-Otaiby said, “The municipalities will continue efforts for the speedy implementation of all the developmental projects in the region.”
Al-Otaiby observed that a total lack of coordination between various departments while undertaking the laying of electricity cables, water and sewage networks, petrol and gas pipelines and STC cables had caused the delay in several projects.
