Just in time to coincide with the Janadriya Festival, I received a nice note from my old friend, Timothy Barger, the publisher of Selwa Press. Let me share it with all of you:

It has been awhile since we last corresponded and I trust that you are well. I haven’t been in the Kingdom for three years now, but I still hear from people commenting on my father’s book “Out in the Blue.” I am still publishing books about Arabia and the Middle East. My latest production is called “Burning Issues: Understanding and Misunderstanding the Middle East — A 40-Year Chronicle.”
I’m writing to let you know that my new website at www.SelwaPress.com, features a page, Selwa Video, that displays WMV videos made from 1930s footage of the old days in Saudi Arabia. I have recently added a clip from May 1, 1939, the king’s visit to Ras Tanura to inaugurate the first tanker load of oil. The films are quite nostalgic and perhaps of interest to your readers.
Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to produce a decent looking low resolution version of these clips for dial-up, so a broadband or DSL connection is necessary to view them. I also have a forwarded account for the domain, www.SelwaVideo.com that will take you directly to the video clips. I hope that you’ll enjoy these short movies. I’ll be adding a new one every month.
