ABHA, 24 February 2007 — Security forces in the southern Asir region have arrested a 24-year-old Saudi man carrying a bag with 700 rounds of ammunition, it was announced yesterday. The arrest took place in Khaibar Al-Janoub.

A security source told Arab News that the man, who was working in the military, wanted to sell the ammunition to make money and had no plan to carry out any subversive acts.

However, the source said, the youth is being questioned and would be released on bail. He said investigators would question the suspect to determine if he was telling the truth.

In another development, Asir police received a complaint on Wednesday about the disappearance of a 17-year-old secondary school student after leaving his uncle’s house in Khaibar Al-Janoub.

Six days have passed since the boy has last been seen. Security officers are continuing their search.
