RIYADH, 24 February 2007 — BuilConn Middle East will be held at Jumeira Beach Hotel Convention Center in Dubai on Monday. The Saudi capital Riyadh will also host a forum that will focus on intelligent buildings opportunities in the Kingdom, on March 3 at the Four Seasons hotel.
According to Anto Budiardjo, president of US-based company Clasma Events, the event organizer, the construction boom that the region is undergoing necessitates a forum like BuilConn that brings together property and technology developers on one table to understand the value of intelligent buildings and how to design a multi-use IP network as the backbone of an intelligent building.
Budiardjo added that speakers at this event, which is being held for the first time in the Middle East, would not be limited to sponsors only. Among the distinguished speakers will be Professor Volker Hartkopf, director of the Center for Building Performance and Diagnostics at the Carnegie Mellon University. Hartkopf is currently leading the “Building as power plant project,” which has been selected by the US Congress as a national test-bed for advanced technology in buildings.
BuilConn has been a leading gathering event for intelligent buildings technologies in the United States, Europe and Asia for the past five years.
There will also be a specialized exhibition alongside the conference in Dubai. The Riyadh forum will focus on the opportunities entailed in creating intelligent buildings in existing cities in Saudi Arabia and in its new economic cities.
