AMMAN, 2 March 2007 — The European Union yesterday pledged to extend 265 million euros in economic assistance to Jordan over the coming four years, according to a memorandum of understanding signed by the visiting European Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner. The agreement, which involved a 34 percent increase in the European aid to Jordan for the years 2007-2010, placed the EU in the second place after the United States in the list of Jordan’s donors, according to the Jordanian Planning Minister Suhair al-Ali, who signed for her government.
