TABUK, 9 March 2007 — Worried about all these awful reports of teacher dying in car accidents while being shuttled in long-distance daily commutes to and from their teaching jobs, a father in this northern city pulled his son out of high school to become the chauffeur for his sisters, who teach 90 km away from where they live. According to a report in yesterday’s Al-Madinah daily, the father fired the man who had been driving his daughters and put in his place the son. Let us all hope for everyone’s sake that the boy doesn’t drive like the typical joyriding Saudi youth.
