JEDDAH, 13 March 2007 — Prince Jalawi bin Abdul Aziz, deputy governor of the Eastern Province, will launch tomorrow the inaugural flight of Sama airlines, one of the two domestic low-cost airlines recently approved by the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
According to a report carried by the Saudi Press Agency, Sama’s maiden flight will take off from Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport. Sama Airlines offers a unified price of SR55.88 to any destination in the Kingdom for a limited period.
Prince Bandar bin Khaled Al-Faisal, chairman of Sama, will hold a meeting with businessmen at the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry to introduce the new private airline.
“During the meeting, which will be attended by members of the company’s board of directors, Bandar will give a presentation of the airline and its future plans,” an official statement said. Sama is based in the Eastern Province.
Faisal Al-Duhaim, marketing manager, said Sama would launch its first flight between Dammam and Jeddah on March 18, adding that the company would operate three flights daily on the route.
The airline will also operate three flights daily between Riyadh and Jeddah, two flights daily between Riyadh and Madinah, one flight daily between Riyadh and Jizan, two flights daily between Dammam and Jizan, one flight daily between Dammam and Madinah, two flights daily between Dammam and Riyadh, and one flight daily between Riyadh and Jizan.
