ABU DHABI, 14 March 2007 — Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) has received two prestigious awards from the Airports Council International (ACI), a 573-member international body operating over 1,643 airports in 178 countries.
ADIA was chosen as the Best Airport in Africa and the Middle East, based on annual results of overall satisfaction of international passengers.
ADIA has also been recognized as the best airport in Africa and the Middle East in terms of courtesy and customer service.
The new “Regional Airport People Award” recognizes those airports that have cultivated a strong customer service culture among their staff and business partners and have been rated by passengers as having the most courteous and helpful airport, airline and security staff.
In the latter award category, Abu Dhabi came on top of the Africa-Middle East group, Brussels led the European group, Seoul Incheon emerged as the best in Asia-Pacific, while Halifax topped the list in the Americas. The two awards were bestowed on ADIA at a special ceremony held at JW Marriott, Dubai on the sidelines of ACI Airport and Trinity Forum 2007, a global conference on airport commercial revenues.
Gorges Mohoho, president of ACI Africa, conferred the award for Best Airport in the Middle East and Africa on Khalifa Al-Mazrouei, chairman and managing director, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC). Al-Mazrouei said: “It is indeed a welcome development. We are happy to know that our customers appreciate what we are offering them. This recognition will drive us to further enhance our services to improve our customer satisfaction”. He paid tribute to ADAC staff for their hard work and dedication and said these awards will further motivate them to render better services. He also thanked ACI for its endeavors.
