DAMMAM, 15 March 2007 — The Bahrain Chemical Society, in collaboration with the Saudi chapter of the Dhahran-based American Chemical Society, will discuss the issues and challenges related to petroleum and petrochemical industries at an international conference to be held in Manama on March 26-28.
Bahraini Premier Sheikh Khalifa ibn Salman Al-Khalifa will sponsor the conference accompanied by an exhibition on industrial chemistry in the capital’s Gulf International Conference Center.
Notable industrialists and dignitaries in the region, including Bahrain Industry and Commerce Minister Hassan Abdullah Fakhru, are expected to participate in the conference. Representatives of international industrial establishments will also attend the event. The participants will present work papers on the latest developments in industrial chemistry and its role in petrochemical industries.
The organizing committee has received more than 200 work papers from participating scientists covering topics such as crude oil, refining, petrochemical catalysts, clean fuel, hydrogen and carbon dioxide manufacture, sulfur, polymers and environment.
The conference will also tackle serious threats faced by petroleum derivatives as a fuel and the role of crude oil in the chemical industry, aside from the challenges faced by the international refining and petrochemical industries and the future role of olefins and other petroleum derivatives in the rapidly advancing chemical industries.
