CAIRO, 17 March 2007 — Leading Syrian actor Gamal Suleiman will take the role of the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdul Nasser in a new TV series directed by Ismail Abdul Hafez.
Al-Jaberi, an Egyptian company, is producing the big budget serial at a cost of 30 million Egyptian pounds. The series was to be produced originally by Muhammad Al-Fauzi who made an informal offer for it with its scriptwriter Yusra Al-Jundi last year following the success of the film “Nasser 56.”
However, Al-Jundi had some new ideas and signed an agreement with Al-Jaberi Co. to produce the series. Al-Jundi wanted Suleiman to do the lead role following his success in the “Hadaika Al-Shaytan” (Gardens of Devil) last year and signed an agreement with him. Preparations are currently underway to find the remaining cast and start the shooting.
Sulaiman won the best actor award for his performance in “Hadaika Al-Shaytan” in the 12th Radio and Television Festival in Cairo last year.
