JEDDAH, 28 March 2007 — Abdul Latif Jameel Co. (ALJ) launched the Yaris Club yesterday aimed at attracting some 5,000 young men who own Yaris cars to join the club this year.

Addressing a press conference at Serafi Mega Mall, Waleed K. Hambishi, senior general manager, integrated marketing communication, Abdul Latif Jameel Import & Distribution Co. Ltd., said “despite its modernization, Yaris stepped up a drive in the Saudi market to gather Yaris owners and young men of different ages that own and drive cars. They will have the options of various cultural programs, sports activities and many courses in skills development and training on safe driving.”

“Our plan for the first year is to attract 5,000 members. Various events, including some in universities, will be organized, for Yaris Club members. The club programs will attract youths from 18 to 24. The first stage will include the western region and thereafter, we will expand in the central and eastern regions,” he further said.

Yaris with its youthful character and its full flexibility, that matches young men’s requirements and their interests, will offer, through this club and its programs, a variety of opportunities for young men.

“The classifications will be based on the members of Yaris owners where they can participate in all events and activities of this club. Other members will be invited to see and follow up these sports and cultural events,” Hambishi explained.

“We did our best in order to make links and communication channels between club members. We designed a website for the club to make it easy for members to connect with each other, www.yarisclub-sa.com. It will feature events, activities and club chat rooms in addition to spare parts notification to be available and any modifications for the body or the engine of the car. Later it will be easy for members to buy and sell cars on the website where members will be notified of dates for activities and proceedings through mobile SMS and direct phone call,” he added.
