JEDDAH, 29 March 2007 — Dr. Osama ibn Fadl Al-Bar has been appointed the mayor of Makkah in place of Dr. Khaled Al-Nahhas, a Royal Court statement said yesterday. The appointment was made by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on the recommendation of Municipal and Rural Affairs Minister Prince Miteb. The Royal Court said Nahhas was relieved of his duty at his request. King Abdullah issued another decree appointing Prince Mansour ibn Nasser as his adviser.
