JEDDAH, 31 March 2007 — Mayor of Jeddah Adel Fakieh is scheduled to inaugurate today a public park and sports club in Al-Qurayat district in the southern part of the city. The park, which was a gift to the district’s residents by a philanthropist who does not want to be identified, includes a soccer field, a basketball court, public toilets, a jogging path and areas for outdoor family gatherings.
Qasim Colleges Mark Down Tuition
JEDDAH, 31 March 2007 — Founders of Qasim Private Colleges have offered concessions of up to 65 percent to their students, according to a report carried by Al-Jazirah, quoting Fahd Al-Falaj, supervisor of the colleges. “We’ll give the discounts to Saudi students joining our colleges of Computer Science and English — the tuition fee will be reduced from SR25,000 to SR8,750 per year,” he said. Outstanding non-Saudi students will also receive the same concession, he added. It offers a 50 percent discount to all other students.
Police Break Up Illegal Gathering
JEDDAH, 31 March 2007 — More than 20 people were arrested for disorderly conduct in front of Al-Baiah Mosque in downtown Jeddah yesterday after Friday prayers. The group had previously announced its intention to gather. Authorities quickly arrested the demonstrators. The Interior Ministry was not available for comment yesterday. (Samir Al-Saadi)
