JAKARTA, 1 April 2007 — Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal pledged to invest further in Indonesia and continue to do so “where there is potential for development and growth.”
Alwaleed, leading the Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) delegation — in which he is the chairman — at the invitation of Indonesian President Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, discussed social and economic issues as well as the bilateral relations between their respective countries.
The Saudi delegation is on the second day of visit to Indonesia arriving at Bali on Thursday.
Alwaleed’s investments in Indonesia include Citigroup, three Four Seasons hotels and two Raffles hotels that have merged with Fairmont earlier.
The KHC delegation visited the headquarters of Citigroup for a briefing and also some of Indonesia’s tourist attractions.
Yudhoyono and the Chief of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Indonesia Abdul Haq Amiri, thanked Alwaleed for donating over $19 million for the tsunami victims.
Amiri also commended Alwaleed for his continuous and unwavering support for the United Nations’ programs.
The Saudi Arabian Ambassador in Indonesia Abdulrahman Khayyat received Alwaleed and his delegation in the capital.
