JEDDAH, 2 April 2007 — The Yemeni government is to set to announce some 75 investment opportunities at the “Discovering Investment Opportunities in Yemen Forum”, to be held in Sana’a on April 23-24.
Yemeni Trade and Industry Minister Dr. Khalid Sheikh made the announcement during a meeting held at the Yemeni Consulate General in Jeddah yesterday.
Shiekh said Yemen has prepared for potential investments by undertaking studies that guarantee the success of the opportunities it is offering.
He also said that various Yemeni ministries would be at hand for negotiations and the signing of memoranda of understanding before and during the forum.
He added this was indicative of the eagerness of the Yemeni government to attract foreign investments especially those from Saudi Arabia.
The trade and industry minister also gave assurances that the Yemeni government has undertaken a series of procedures to nurture a positive environment for investments and is offering all necessary facilities and incentives to attract investors.
Shiekh added that he is currently visiting the Kingdom to listen to the opinions of Saudi businessmen on issues pertaining to further developing investment opportunities in Yemen.
Mohammed Al-Qutaish, the consul general of Yemen in Jeddah, said the forum would highlight investment opportunities in the energy production, water desalination, land, air, and sea transportation, free trade, agriculture, tourism and health industries.
