MADINAH — A 35-year-old patient died while under anesthesia at a private hospital in Madinah, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday without naming the hospital. Faisal Al-Saedi, a father of five, died while under the knife due to complications attributed to the anesthesiologist’s work. Police are investigating.
Sexual Abuse Among 12% of School Kids?
RIYADH — A recent study conducted on 10,000 elementary school students between 8 and 12 years of age showed that around 35 percent of them have been physically abused by parents, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported yesterday. The study said 50 percent of the students are verbally abused while 12 percent complained of sexual abuse. The study also pointed out that most abuse cases were in the main cities of Riyadh and Jeddah. It said that the kinds of abuses the children suffered caused fear and stress among them and might lead to serious complications when they grow up.
Found Newborn May Be Missing Girl
RIYADH — Maintenance staff at the Armed Forces Hospital in Riyadh found a newborn baby abandoned in one of the wards, Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday. According to a hospital source, a security guard heard a baby’s cry from one of the wards and when he went up to check he found the girl. A newborn girl was reportedly abducted from the same hospital a week ago. The source did not rule out the possibility that the girl could be the missing child. An investigation is under way.
