DHAHRAN, 12 April 2008 — Competition fever is gripping the Eastern Province. The toastmasters from Area 32, Division F, set the ball rolling with their “semifinals last weekend, a lead up to the much-awaited grand finale.

A colorful banner parade of various clubs kicked off the show.

Anil Madan, the area governor and the brains behind the successful extravaganza, addressed the audience followed by Abdul Razzaq Al-Turki and Abdul Latif Al-Harthi.

Each of them exhorted the participants to prepare well and bring home the laurels.

TM Shahul Hameed, chairman of Division F Conference 2008, highlighted the salient features of the forthcoming conference.

The program was deftly emceed by the contest chairperson TM Nusheen Hafeez.

After a keen competition, TM Lancy D’Souza won the international speech contest, TM Ossama Turk the humorous speech contest, TM Yusuf Ba Isa the evaluation speech contest and TM Balasubramaniam, the table topics contest.

An exciting addition to the day’s program was the Talent Show by the members of the various clubs.

A puppet show by the father-daughter duo of Diamond Toastmasters Club and a Bhangra dance by the seniors of Oasis Toastmasters Club lent glitter to the day’s events.

“The quality of speeches, level of participants were of high standards, meeting regional or even international levels,” said Hameed.

“Indeed, the show was marvelous and I congratulate one and all for the planning, hard work and sincere efforts that went into making this annual contest a grand success,” said Alex Philip,

“Area 32 contest was one of a kind with great information being shared by contestants during the contests and it was very well organized.

“This shows the dedication and commitment of members toward toastmaster’s goals. I wish the best of luck to those who are going to represent Area 32 in the Division Conference to be conducted on April 17-18 at the Meridian Hotel in Alkhobar,” said Al-Harthi, Division F governor.

The ambiance, atmosphere and reception at the curtain raiser for the mega event later this month, when luminaries from Saudi Arabia and abroad will be in Alkhobar, promises a really grand finale.
