MAKKAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah congratulated Chinese President Hu Jintao on the success of the 29th Olympics that was concluded in Beijing on Sunday.
"We are happy at the unprecedented success in organizing this great sports event," said the King in cable to the Chinese president on Monday.
The achievement reflects human aspiration for coexistence, cementing bonds of friendship and cooperation, the king said.
He also congratulated the president for the outstanding performance of Chinese athletes in various games. In another development, the king arrived in Makkah yesterday after a three-day visit to Taif.
On his arrival Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, head of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs Saleh Al-Hussein and Chairman of Shoura Council Saleh bin Humaid, received the king.
