RIYADH: The Ministry of Cultural and Information has announced a contest aimed at promoting young artists.

According to Abdul-Aziz Al-Subaiel, the project is aimed at artists under the age of 35. Cash prizes of up to SR10,000 are being offered. The ministry is accepting works with specific conditions related to size, number of submissions and works that adhere to the customs and traditions of the Kingdom. The works should also be recent, not less than two years old, and they should have never been submitted to previous contests. The ministry is considering traditional mediums such as paintings and sculptures and is not accepting digital works of art. The ministry will inform through SMS the winning artists after a committee studies their works, and will invite all winning artists to attend an award-distribution ceremony in Riyadh. —
