RIYADH: The new Bangladesh Ambassador Fazlul Karim warned all Bangladeshi expatriates in the Kingdom that his mission will not speak on behalf of those who violate the laws of the host country. Instead, he said it would help the government authorities in bringing the culprits to book.
The envoy was addressing a community reception held Thursday at the Sheraton Hotel where more than 500 Bangladeshis from all walks of life were present to meet and greet their new ambassador.
“We will help the authorities to eradicate the evils from the society and show no mercy toward mischief-makers,” he said, pointing out that his government is currently engaged in programs among Bangladeshis to cultivate the habit of subordination and to prepare a mindset to help them adapt themselves to local environment here.
He, however, underlined that most of the 1.2 million Bangladeshis living in the Kingdom are peace-loving and law-abiding people. “The Embassy is with them and would work in close concert for the welfare of the community members in the Kingdom.”
Referring to the continued support and cooperation of Saudi Arabia in socio-economic development of Bangladesh, the new ambassador expressed his gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and his government for massive aid of the flood and cyclone victims last year.
