I receive many letters and read in many newspapers how Saudi employees complain of the treatment they receive at private companies. Most of them say they are treated badly and brushed aside. Many complain that they are only employed as mantelpieces to show that their companies are fulfilling their Saudization quotas. They are passed over for promotions and from taking important positions, which are often filled by non-Saudis.
They also complain that they do not see Saudization inspectors and that their reports are only ink on paper. They complain, but no one listens. The reports say that things are fine, when in reality this is not the case. But who will see the problem?
In the past few years we have organized several seminars and meetings on Saudization. We have gained little from these events in terms of solving the problem. We are holding cold water in our hands, while the hands of our shabab burn.
Unemployment is rising every year, and with it so does crime. We hear and admire the statements of some of these officials about Saudization, but when we visit their companies we are shocked by the Saudization percentage they talk about. I have called many times before — and I am doing the same now — for officials to quickly enforce Saudization without any delay or extension. Delays will destroy the cause. An urgent solution is needed.
