Salesmen at wholesale and retail shops told Arab News that most customers are putting the Pepsi back on shelves after learning the price hike at cash registers. Likewise, vendors said demand for alternative beverages have increased as a result of Pepsi price hike.

Customer Khaled Abdullah gave a different reason for not buying Pepsi: The coin he gets in change.

“I don’t want them to return back 50 halalas because I don’t like to carry coins,” he said.

Children, too, seem to be offended by the price hike; they were seen switching brands once discovering the price increase.
