- TAIF: A man was killed and 22 passengers were injured in a pileup involving a bus carrying 50 pilgrims, seven cars and a small truck on Thursday.
- There were 15 others involved in the accident.
The injured were taken to different hospitals in Taif and nearby Sale; three were in critical condition, spokesman of Health Affairs Department in Taif Saeed Al-Zahrani told Arab News. Al-Zahrani said medical teams at the hospitals were put in emergency mode because of the high number of injured in one incident.
Nineteen Civil Defense and Red Crescent teams responded. Some passengers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extracted.
The Health Affairs Department sent 11 medical teams drawn from government and private hospitals and medical centers to the accident site. Responders had to travel in opposite lanes on the highway due to the five-kilometer traffic jam caused by the pileup.
