- MADINAH: Brig.
- Mohsen Al-Radadi, spokesman for Madinah police, denied reports that an identified assailant had attacked the imam of the Prophet’s Mosque during Fajr prayers on Friday.
He, however, confirmed that security officers inside the mosque arrested a person carrying two knives during Fajr prayers on Friday. “But he had not attacked anybody and there is no truth in reports carried on the Internet that he stabbed the imam,” Al-Radadi said. Police grew suspicious when the man, who was standing in the second row behind the imam, did not follow the imam in prayer. “Police checked him and found he was carrying two knives,” the spokesman said.
The man is being questioned.
