- JEDDAH: Fourteen of the 20 Pakistanis who had been held in jail for a year without being tried have been released and allowed to leave the Kingdom according to the Pakistani Consulate in Jeddah.
They were detained in February 2009 on suspicion of traveling on forged passports as they tried to board a flight to Pakistan. They were held in Jeddah’s Briman Prison. A spokesman for the consulate said they were trying to obtain the release of the six remaining detainees and ensure their safe passage back to Pakistan.
