- JEDDAH: Khalid Khidr, a well-known Saudi photographer who from the late 1970s has captured images of the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah as well as the development of the other cities of Saudi Arabia, opened his 10-day exhibition at the Jeddah Hilton over the weekend.
Minister of Culture and Information Abdul Aziz Khoja, the chief guest, said he was impressed with the photographs exhibited under the theme “Jeddah, a City Under the Sun.” A photograph speaks 1,000 words and each of the 20 photographs on display are not only impressive but speaks for Jeddah’s heritage and growing status, he added.
Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Secretary-General Mustafa A.K. Sabri said Khidr had made a significant contribution by depicting the city’s developments through his photographs that he exhibited periodically over the years.
Exhibits include photos of sculptures along Jeddah’s Corniche and also around the city, as well as old houses of traditional architecture, artistic doors and windows, and trees and plants. One of the outstanding aerial pictures of Makkah is also on display. With photography as his forte over the last four decades, Khidr has published several books including one with aerial photographs of Taif and has worked with international photographers. The exhibition, which will end on April 2, is being held in the Hilton Lobby.
