- JEDDAH: Temperatures in Jeddah saw a dramatic increase on Tuesday, leading to many of the city's major roads and streets becoming virtually empty with people preferring to remain indoors.
The Kingdom's General Presidency of Meteorology (PME) also issued a heat wave warning in much of the western region from Makkah to Madinah. It also said the heat wave, which is due to a current of hot air, would continue for the next few days. It added that temperatures are expected to rise over 46 degrees Celsius.
“The heat today is unbearable, especially when your car AC is not working, as is the case with my car," said 26-year-old Hussain from Jeddah.
"I can't see myself getting to work on time and ensuring I'm in a presentable fashion."
