The projects include those approved for this year, future ones and some that have been halted. The prince chaired the meeting that was held at his office.

The prince was further briefed on the present state of the projects. "Their timely completion is strongly desired because they are needed by the city's growing population," Prince Khaled said.

In the meeting, Jeddah Gov. Mishaal bin Majed presented the details of the projects currently being executed and future projects that the governorate would need to undertake. "While 322 projects have been executed, 343 projects are nearly complete."

Prince Mishaal added that 52 projects were halted because of reasons beyond official control. He said there are 119 projects that have been approved in the budget for the current and future years while Jeddah needed 390 projects over the next five years in areas of education, sewage and water, electricity, road and transport.

There are also Saudi Red Crescent projects that need to be undertaken.

"Jeddah will end the sewage water problem in four years. Radical solutions are being implemented for issues such as transportation and crowding," said prince Mishaal after the meeting.

General integrated plans will be implemented for districts in east Jeddah, he said, adding that compensation for relatives of Saudis who drowned in the Jeddah floods have been submitted to the higher authorities for approval.
