The flight carrying a large number of passengers took off from KFIA at 3:30 a.m. An hour later, the pilot, who was alerted of some technical malfunction by the flight instruments, flew the plane back to Dammam.

Saudia spokesperson Abdullah Alajhar confirmed the incident and said the flight took off after the technical snags were sorted out. According to one passenger on the flight, it took nearly seven hours for the flight to be ready for take off.

“We were asked to deplane when it landed at around 4:30 a.m. We then waited for nearly seven hours before the flight took off again,” he said.
