Police began monitoring the movements of the three who were based in the city’s Al-Shemaisy district following a tip off from a member of the public.

The three were caught red-handed preparing iqamas, driving licenses and car registration documents.

Police sent an Asian man to the men’s apartment and told him to say he needed an iqama and a driving license. They told him to wait while they prepared the documents. Police then raided the apartment and arrested the gang members red-handed. Police also found forged passports, iqamas, 32 driving licenses and photographs of people who had been given fake documents.

They also found two scanners, a laptop, rubber stamps, approval stickers from the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), and two machines that had been used to produce the fake documents.

Images of logos of government department such as the Riyadh Traffic Police, the Passport Department and RCCI were also found.

Police are conducting further investigations to track down any illegal workers who may have forged documents.

Arab News has learned that forged iqamas and driving licenses are sold by other similar groups in the city’s Batha area for SR600.

Forged documents are purchased by runaway workers who want to stay in the Kingdom illegally.
