- JEDDAH: A campaign to crackdown on people who have overstayed their residency permits or visas will continue over the next few weeks, said Gen.

Police carried out a number of raids across Jeddah last week, particularly in the underdeveloped districts of south Jeddah. Forty-one wanted criminals and 1,087 people who had overstayed their visas or residency permits were arrested in the raids.
Police received a number of telephone calls from Saudis about suspicious activities of a number of people at locations across Jeddah. Police monitored the locations to verify the complaints and then raided some of these locations last week.
Those arrested were wanted in connection with purse snatching, car thefts and fraud. One of those arrested was an Arab national who had been selling fake phone cards.
