At Oakland, California, Cliff Lee pitched at least eight innings for the 10th straight start and Taylor Teagarden hit a two-run homer as first-placed Texas built their biggest division lead in 11 years with a victory over Oakland.

Lee (10-5), who won for the first time in three starts, struck out eight and didn't walk a batter in eight innings.

The Rangers moved a season-best 19 games over .500 (64-45).

Josh Hamilton added a solo homer for the Rangers in the opener of a key series between the AL West's top two teams.

Texas won its third straight and increased its division lead to 9½ games ahead of the A's.

At Baltimore, Adam Jones singled in the winning run with two outs in the 10th inning as Baltimore extended its unbeaten run under new manager Buck Showalter to four straight.

Nick Markakis had a season-high four hits for the Orioles, who earned their second straight walkoff victory.

It was the third loss in 12 games for the first-place White Sox, whose lone run came on a homer by Gordon Beckham.

Markakis started the game-winning uprising with a one-out single off Tony Pena (3-2).

At Detroit, Jered Weaver allowed three hits over seven innings to best Justin Verlander, and Torii Hunter hit a two-run homer and tossed a bag of baseballs onto the field after being ejected in Los Angeles' win over Detroit.

Brennan Boesch hit a home run for Detroit, which is 5-18 since the All-Star Break.

Weaver (11-7) allowed one earned run and fanned nine to run his AL-leading total to 171.

Hunter and Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia were ejected in the eighth inning after Hunter was called out on strikes.

At Toronto, Lyle Overbay doubled home the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as Brett Cecil won for the first time in four starts for Toronto.

Cecil (9-5) gave up one run and four hits in seven innings, walked two and struck out nine, one shy of his career high. The left-hander won for just the second time in nine outings.

Matt Garza (11-6) allowed two runs and four hits in eight innings for the Rays, who hadn't lost three straight since June 20-23. Garza walked none and struck out four.

At Cleveland, Matt LaPorta homered leading off the bottom of the ninth inning to give Cleveland a victory over Minnesota.

LaPorta connected for his sixth homer off Matt Guerrier (2-7) after the Twins had tied it in the top half on a two-run single by Alexei Casilla off closer Chris Perez (1-2). Casilla had a career-high four RBIs.

The game-tying hit off Perez, who had not allowed a run over 15 outings since June 28, came after pinch-hitter Jim Thome had an apparent home run ruled a double. The umpires used replay to uphold their call after Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire protested.

At Seattle, Chone Figgins drove in three runs and Ryan Langerhans had three hits, including a home run, to help Seattle beat Kansas City's Zack Grienke for the first time.

Grienke (7-11) had a 4-0 record against Seattle with a 1.64 ERA in 10 career appearances. In his previous five starts, he had allowed one earned run in 39 innings, including a team-record 31-inning scoreless streak. That streak included a one-hit, 3-0 victory last Aug. 30, a win that helped lock up his Cy Young Award.

The Mariners scored their most runs since an 8-1 win over Detroit on July 4 to support Luke French (1-2), who went eight innings, allowing one run and nine hits. It was his fifth career win, third against Kansas City.
