Mukhlid Al-Sulami, a Saudi man from Makkah, was treated at the hospital following a road accident. According to his brother, Al-Sulami was given the wrong treatment, which has now left him paralyzed.

Al-Sulami used to cut trees to gather wood to sell for a living. It was during a trip to collect wood that his truck flipped over while driving up a mountain and fell into a ravine, leaving him seriously injured. He was rescued some 12 hours later and taken to a hospital where he was treated for two weeks.

However, after being discharged from hospital, Al-Sulami fell into a coma that lasted two months. He was then diagnosed with paralysis. He suffers from bedsores and can only pass urine through a catheter.

Consultants are of the view that he should be subjected to advanced physiotherapy, which Al-Sulami cannot afford. He receives a monthly pension of SR2,800 which is barely enough to look after his large family of 10.
