Some of them also demonstrated the skills needed to fix bulbs, paint walls, and attend to simple household tasks like fixing taps and administering first aid.

In all, 400 trainees graduated from the program — 250 at the Industrial and Vocational Institute in Jeddah and 150 others at the Industrial and Vocational Institute in Makkah. The trainees were in the 12-18 age group and participated in five training session in various fields.

Ali bin Nasser Al-Ghifais, governor of the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), which plans to create four million jobs in the technical and vocational fields for young Saudis over the next decade, has emphasized the budgetary requirement to build an infrastructure for technical colleges and industrial institutes in all regions of the Kingdom to prepare Saudi youth to play an active role in the Kingdom’s economic development.

The event marked the closing ceremony of a joint partnership program between the TVTC in Makkah and AlBaik Food Systems program “With AlBaik, you are a house hero.”

Dr. Rashed bin Mohammed Al-Zahrani, president of the Makkah committee, said the program had achieved its objective of encouraging the youth to take advantage of the summer break by joining professional courses that might fulfill their needs in the future.

Rami Abu Ghazallah, the CEO of AlBaik Food System, said so far 4,000 trainees from Makkah and Jeddah have participated in the annual training program.

Representatives of the Civil Defense, the Red Crescent and Al-Faisaliya Charity were among those present.
