MAKKAH: Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, who heads the Central Haj Committee (CHC), will preside over a meeting of the CHC in Makkah on Saturday. The meeting will discuss the arrangements made for the Umrah pilgrims and visitors in Ramadan to Makkah, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

All arrangements have been made to make the Lesser Pilgrimage (Umrah) and visit comfortable and safe for the annually increasing number of Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the Grand Mosque during Ramadan.
 

JEDDAH:  The Court of Cassation on Thursday endorsed the sentence of the General Court in Riyadh on three expatriates who were  convicted multiple charges including attacking and robbing people and stealing from parked cars after widows. Their crimes were reported from various districts in Riyadh.
 

JEDDAH: An 80-year-old woman was murdered and her old husband seriously injured in Al-Jamea neighborhood in south Jeddah on Wednesday, a local daily reported. The old couple tried to fight back the thieves who entered the house. One of the thieves attacked the couple, killing the woman and seriously injured her husband. The thieves stole SR35,000 from the house. Police did not get a description of the thieves and the husband is in no condition to give any details.
 

BAHA: An illegal resident reportedly confessed to police in this southern Saudi city that the SR100,000 that was in his possession was the proceeds of liquor sales, according to a newspaper. The man led police to the clandestine distillery. The man initially said the money was collected for a charity back home, police said.
 

TABUK: Two Saudi men drowned in Tabuk on Wednesday. According to the coast guard, the two men drowned after they swam into a no swimming zone. Search rescue operation recovered the bodies of the men, reported to be 27 and 24.
 

MAKKAH: Approximately 500 restaurant workers with forged health certificates were arrested here during surprised field inspections. A source from the municipality said the workers were transferred to the police department for further investigation.
 

TAIF: Seven people from one family suffered from injures in Riyadh-Taif road in a car accident. According to police sources, the driver felt a sleep and as a result, his car went off the road and flipped over many times. Two men and two women and three children were injured. They were transferred to a local hospital in Taif for treatment.
 

RIYADH: Police here foiled a theft attempt on a private contracting company in Al-Naseem neighborhood. Riyadh police arrested six people who were caught in the criminal act after they were seen breaking windows to enter the company's premises. Police arrested the men after they attempted to flee arrest. Police found a cutting tool at the crime scene and are checking the suspects' fingerprints to see if any of them are wanted for previous crimes.
