In two simultaneous air strikes the warplanes bombed the tunnels in Rafah city, and an open area near Al-Jaradat village east of the city, no one was wounded in the strike. Two tunnels were destroyed in the attack.

Israeli F-16 aircrafts also bombed an open area in Khan Younis city. No damage was reported but the sound of the explosion created a state of panic among civilians. The strikes on Gaza came shortly after Al-Taraweeh prayer. The warplanes bombarded a building belonging to Al-Qassam brigades in the central Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Army said the attacks on Gaza was in response to mortar shells fired earlier on Tuesday against Israel, hitting the Eshkol area where two soldiers were wounded. They added that the warplanes targeted a smuggling tunnel in Rafah city, a building east of Khan Younis city, in addition to an open area in central Gaza Strip.

Two Israeli soldiers were slightly wounded on Tuesday by the mortar shell fired by Palestinian fighters, the military said.

On Monday an Islamic Jihad fighter was killed and an Israeli soldier wounded in an exchange of fire.
