- MAKKAH: Six people were slightly injured in a fire that broke out in a hotel in Ajyad in Makkah Thursday afternoon.
Civil Defense teams evacuated 300 Umrah pilgrims of different nationalities from the 10-story hotel after the fire broke out in a fifth floor kitchen.
The injured, two of them firefighters, were given first aid at a nearby hospital, Makkah Civil Defense spokesman Lt. Col. Ali Al-Muntashari told Arab News.
“The fire was caused by a gas leak in the kitchen. The building has been handed over to the Ministry of Haj for inspection and new accommodation has been arranged for the affected pilgrims,” he said.
