The repair station certificate of Alsalam, a local company that carries out maintenance and modification works on civil and military aircraft, was renewed after an audit of its facility was conducted recently."Alsalam's certification has been renewed for another year," said Moahmmed Noor Fallatah, Alsalam's president and chief executive officer. During the audit, the GACA and the FAA verified "Alsalam’s compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements" which included the standards of facilities; the qualifications, training technical personnel, technical documentation, tooling and equipment, explained Fallatah.The Alsalam chief said the company had a record of passing the annual audits by these regulatory authorities. Locally, Alsalam has worked on significant projects involving several US and Saudi registered commercial aircraft. "Today, Alsalam counts several prominent names among it growing customer base that include Saudi Arabian Airlines, Royal Saudi Air Force, National Air Services (NAS) and Saudi Aramco," said the statement. Alsalam, it said, is the only maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) center in Saudi Arabia that is certificated by the three major aviation authorities as a Part 145 Organization. Part 145 is a section of a set of regulations incorporated and adopted by the Federal Aviation Regulations, or FARs. The FARs are rules prescribed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) governing all aviation activities in the United States. Alsalam is a joint venture company operating under the patronage of the Ministry of Defense and Aviation as an Economic Offset Program company. The company is an contributor to the Kingdom’s strategy to develop self-sufficiency in the field of civil and military aircraft maintenance and modification.
