Undersecretary at the Asir Governorate Abdul Karim Al-Hunaini, who presided over an emergency meeting of government departments and Civil Defense, said the local finance department should fund the provision of equipment for rescue operations, especially in remote villages. He claimed there was a shortage of such machinery in these areas. The meeting also stressed the need for a team of officials to coordinate rescue operations round-the-clock in the event of a calamity. The meeting also recommended the issue of repeated warnings to all people living in the low valleys about the risk of flash floods.
