King Abdullah made this comment while presiding over a meeting of the Cabinet at Al-Salam Palace. He briefed the ministers on the outcome of his talks with Jordan's King Abdallah and highlighted the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

The Cabinet meeting commended King Abdullah's initiative to send two field hospitals and a search and rescue team to Pakistan to provide necessary assistance to the flood victims. Saudi Arabia has sent several planeloads of relief supplies to Pakistan.

King Abdullah also ordered a nationwide fundraising campaign to support Pakistan's flood victims, which raised more than SR400 million. The Cabinet expressed its satisfaction over the good public response to the campaign.

The Cabinet urged the Iraqis to establish a national government comprising all factions. It welcomed the Middle East Quartet's statement supporting direct talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis in Washington on Sept. 2. It also welcomed the statement of the Palestinian Liberation Organization in this respect.

Culture and Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja said the Cabinet approved the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with Qatar for cooperation in Islamic and endowment affairs. It approved another MOU signed with Morocco for scientific and educational cooperation.

The Cabinet brought the Ain Zubaida project in Makkah under the General Authority for Endowments and described it as a general endowment property for the people of Makkah and pilgrims. It also approved the rules and regulations for research on living things.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Labor Minister Adel Fakieh took the oath of office in front of King Abdullah on Monday. The king also received the sons of the late Labor Minister Ghazi Al-Gosaibi at the palace.
