O’Reilly has 42 years of experience in the oil business, starting with Chevron Research Co. in 1968 and working his way up to chairman and CEO of Chevron Corp. in 2000, a position held until his retirement in 2009. Before taking the oil major’s top post, he was vice chairman of the board, responsible for Chevron’s worldwide exploration and production and corporate human resources.

He is widely credited with transforming Chevron into one of the world’s most formidable energy companies with an unwavering dedication to operational excellence and what he often referred to as “getting results the right way.” After he became CEO in 2000, the company established the best exploration record among its peers in the industry and advanced its safety record to world-class levels. Safety and environmental protection are among Saudi Aramco’s strategic imperatives, and O’Reilly’s experience should prove invaluable to the company at a time when it is expanding both its production capacity and downstream activities in refining and petrochemical production.

A native of Dublin, Ireland, O’Reilly earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at University College in Dublin. In 2002, University College granted him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his career achievements.

Nasser brings 28 years of experience to the board, starting in 1982 as a field petroleum engineer for the company and working his way up to chief petroleum engineer. In 2005, he was named executive director of Petroleum Engineering and Development and was approved by the board as vice president of that organization in 2006.

In 2008 he was named senior vice president of Exploration and Producing, essentially putting him in charge of all of Saudi Aramco’s upstream activities, including onshore and offshore exploration, petroleum engineering, oil and gas production and processing.

Nasser earned a bachelor’s of science degree in petroleum engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 1982. He also completed Columbia University’s Senior Executive Program in 2002. He is a longtime member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and in early 2008, he was elected a member of the SPE Industry Advisory Council.
