This was the statement that has led to allegations that Jordanian TV presenter Mais Hamadan insulted Egyptians and should be taken off the air. Hamadan was the only non-Egyptian presenter on Egypt's Al-Misriyya I Channel until her program "100 Masa" was taken off the air following the comment, which she claims was done due to the "envy of the Egyptian anchors at the popularity and success achieved by my program," according to a statement published in Sunday's edition of Al-Watan Arabic daily. Hamadan claims that there has been a campaign lodged against her on the Internet. "There have been some people waiting for an opportunity to pounce and stop my program," she said in her statement. "That is why they are criticizing me now. I did not present anything offensive to Egyptians... I only intended to make the viewers laugh as comedians do and not to portray Egyptians as stupid."
